The first and only time i’ve gotten the chance to see TPATY’s was at the first DIY or house show I had ever gone to.  I had heard Joyce Manor was playing and I found an address on a flyer. I didn’t know it was a house and when i got there it was really weird, kids standing around drinking 40’s, it felt more like a party. I distinctly remember TPATY’s set because it was fast and full of energy. I don’t know if i’ll ever see them play again, but i’ll always remember that show. Here’s an interview done by a writer who discovered us at one of our favorite shows of all time, in Garden Grove, CA with Joyce Manor!

Our friend Justin Nottke runs a really cool website called Wild Method where he documents bands and artists on location in various places. As of this posting, we are his most recent project!

This video was shot in one take on Superbowl Sunday, 2013, when the shores of Lakel Michigan were cold and lonely.

This video of us at the Beat Kitchen on 3/14 was taken by Joe Klomes of Droughts. He has a wonderful YouTube channel called Loud Noises, where he posts tons of live footage from all kinds of bands he encounters when he goes to shows. Here’s a cover I did the other night. I was telling my brother about the TV show Yo Gabba Gabba, and how it’s like the kids version of the now-deceased MTV2 show Wonder Showzen. Then I watched the video for this song on YouTube and decided to cover it.

Pi Day (3/14) Show Preview @ Beat Kitchen!

“A refreshing feeling—not far off from a cold beer on a summer day—is what hits you between your ears when listening to The Please & Thank Yous for the first time.

Goofing off in the DIY punk scene of Chicago, The Please & Thank Yous have shaped their humble careers in their friends’ basements and are moving on to bigger things—such as their upcoming show at The Beat Kitchen on March 14.

Coming from the cliché high-school-punk-rock-garage-band beginnings in 2006, The Please & Thank Yous have [thankfully] kept an unchanged ’90s alternative sound on their 2012 album “At Your Merci,” combining anthem guitar chord progressions with simplistic awe-shucks lyrics (i.e. “I’ll put your mom in a body bag if she doesn’t think I’m https://www.facebook.com/events/449072961826157/?fref=tsa good guy” on “Fucking Honestly”).

Overall, they’re enjoyably punk—specifically pop-punk (minus the Warped-Tour gaudiness) meets classic punk (minus the dumbed-down “Ramones” simplicity); and hardly punk (like the geeked-out Weezer “Green Album”).
